Policy documents and governance framework

Governed by principle.

Our policies are not mere documents — they are the embodiment of our values, the foundation of our integrity, and the promise we make to every child, family, and community we serve.

Our Policies

Because the protection of children demands the highest standards.

Safeguarding
Robust frameworks to protect every child from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
Conduct
Clear ethical standards governing every member of our team and partners.
Privacy
Rigorous data protection protocols safeguarding personal information.

Policies are the architecture of trust. At Hearts for child, we have developed a comprehensive suite of policies that govern every aspect of our operations — from how we protect the children in our care to how we handle sensitive data, from the ethical standards we demand of our staff to the mechanisms we provide for reporting concerns. These policies are living documents, regularly reviewed and updated to reflect evolving best practice, legal requirements, and the lessons we learn from our work. We make them publicly available because we believe that accountability begins with transparency.

Our Commitment

We hold ourselves to the highest standards — because children deserve nothing less.

Every policy we adopt, every procedure we implement, and every standard we enforce is driven by a single, non-negotiable principle: the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of the child come first. Our safeguarding framework is aligned with international best practice and Ugandan legal requirements. Our code of conduct applies to every staff member, volunteer, partner, and contractor without exception. Our whistleblowing policy ensures that concerns can be raised safely and without fear of retaliation. And our data protection protocols guarantee that the personal information of our beneficiaries, donors, and partners is handled with the utmost care and in full compliance with applicable law.

"A policy is only as strong as the culture that upholds it. We do not simply write standards — we live them, every day, in every interaction, with every child." — Faith Akello, Community Engagement Manager
